Lockout/tagout is a safety procedure used to make sure machinery is isolated from its energy sources and cannot be started while maintenance, cleaning or repair is under way. A lock holds the isolation point in the safe position, and a tag shows who applied it and why. It is important because accidental start-up or release of stored energy during maintenance can cause serious injury.
The system automatically builds a time-stamped digital record of every lock, tag, verification and release, showing what was isolated, who isolated it and when. The system follows the standard lockout sequence of lock, tag, verify and log, so it is designed to support a LOTO procedure rather than replace the procedure itself.
