The Machine Guarding range has four parts: the Metal Series (robust mesh guarding for demanding environments), the Polycarbonate Series (clear guarding that combines visibility with safety), the Polycarbonate + Metal (Hybrid) Series that mixes both, and Accessories that complete and connect the system, such as doors, brackets, posts and locks. Guards are available in mild steel, stainless steel or aluminium. Custom Guarding is also available for straight, L-shaped or U-shaped layouts.

How do I determine the right guarding solution for a machine?

There is no single best guard for every machine. The right choice depends on the hazard, how and how often people need access, how the machine operates, whether you need to see the process, maintenance needs and the applicable standards. The usual starting point is a risk assessment, and Prazamana offers Machine Risk Assessment in line with ISO 12100:2010. Which machines and hazards can be protected with machine guarding?

Prazamana's machine guarding is used around robotic cells, welding cells, conveyor systems and other machine and equipment zones. It protects against contact with moving or hazardous parts, including pinch, nip, shear and crushing points, depending on the machine. The guard type and layout are chosen to suit the hazard and how people need to work around the machine.

Can machine guarding be installed on existing or older machinery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because the guarding is a separate modular fence configured around the machine cell or line, it does not depend on the machine being new. Prazamana has upgraded the safety of existing equipment such as robotic cells and press machines. For existing, refurbished or relocated machines, Prazamana recommends starting with a site assessment and a machine risk assessment so the guarding addresses the hazards actually present.

Can access doors and gates be integrated with machine safety systems?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The range includes hinge doors, sliding doors and sliding doors with an upper guide. For machine safety integration, a Mechanical Lock (a guard-locking interlock with a choice of switch brands: Euchner, Leuze, Pilz, Pizzato or Schmersal) can be fitted so the guard and the machine's safety circuit work together. A Smart Pole with E-Stop, reset, stop and start buttons can be placed where a cell needs local controls. The final arrangement depends on your risk assessment and the machine's control system.

Can machine guarding be combined with safety sensors and other protective devices?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Guarding is often one layer of a wider safety system. Prazamana's Safety Devices range includes sensors, relays, controllers and emergency stops, and its 3D Radar Sensor can detect presence and trigger a slowdown, warning or stop. On past projects, fencing has been combined with light curtains, Safety PLC systems and emergency-stop controls. The right combination is decided by the risk assessment.
